We were curious about Antonija and Sasha’s Croatia Wedding in Split from the very beginning. To be honest, we have never thought about Croatia as a wedding destination. However, we already knew before how beautiful this country was, as we have been here for camping few years ago. This time we went to Split by plane – much more comfortable than traveling all the way by car of course. Our apartment was in the middle of the small port city Trogir. We directly felt in love with the narrow streets, the small restaurants, the old walls and the flair of that old port city. For the western fans out there – you can see Trogir as Santa Fe in Winnetou 3!
Okay, let’s get back to the wedding 🙂
Sasha’s Getting Ready took place at his parents house on the island Ciovo. And, as the sea is directly in front of the door, the guys arranged to start the day at the beach. It was a mixture of friends from Ireland, where Sasha lived for several years, and friends from Croatia.
Sasha’s dad restored the old fiat, which was the perfect wedding car for the bridal couple
Antonija and her girls got prepared in the beautiful city of Trogir. It is always great if there are a few friends around you during the Getting Ready part. That’s the best way to start the wedding day.
Since the ceremony took place at the other side of the island Chris and the other groomsmen had to change to scooters followed by a wild ride across the island.
The church was located directly on the edge of the island and was built in the rocks, only a small path lead to it. The arriving guests were welcomed with cold drinks and a traditional Croatian band.
Our beautiful bride Antonija was picked up in Trogir by a motorboat and drove directly to a place downstairs the church where here dad was waiting for her. It truly was a spectacular moment when the boat tried to land while the waves shake it like a nutshell. I (Chris) wish I’d have taken a picture of Ruth’s reckless jump out of the boat with two cameras in hands 😀
After the ceremony there was a short reception held in front of the church, before the guests went on their way to the beach club.
For the portrait session, we chose a cliff and a forest near the church. Since the ceremony was held quite late, the sun went already down a bit so the light was pretty nice for the couple session.
The party started at Laganini Beach Club! This venue is truly a dream. The day before, our bridal couple and their friends spent a lot of time decorating everything and it has become truly amazing.
At sunset we went to the beach with Antonija and Sasha for some more couple pics and to just enjoy the beautiful evening mood.
The band The Oddsocks were performing the whole evening and it was just unbelievable! These guys were performing the whole evening and finally rocked the dance floor!
This Croatia wedding in Split was a blast and we love thinking back to this special day over and over again!
Thanks guys <3
